Committed to reaching net-zero emissions
As part of developing our climate strategy HappyPorch made a net-zero emission commitment this year through the SME Climate Hub commitment.
The SME Climate hub is an organisation for small and medium-sized enterprises and it will help us by providing our company with climate solutions as well as tools and resources as support to measure and reduce our emissions and achieve the following goal:
“ The science is clear – we must halve greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and achieve net-zero emissions by no later than 2050 to avoid the worst effects of climate change.”
- SME Climate Hub
Some strategic actions towards net-zero emissions from their “1.5C Business Playbook” include the main four pillars and is definitely something we will be working on:
- Reducing our own emissions
- Reducing our value chain emissions
- Integrating climate in business strategy
- Influencing climate action in society
We are happy to say that by measuring our carbon footprint in the past years we keep track of our emissions and discuss as a team how to improve and control them. After each finalised report we offset 200% of our emissions and we think this is important but the reduction is our long term aim.
In the recent months, 1200 SMEs across 65 countries also made the commitment, from industries as varied as energy and agriculture to events and consumer goods. With this commitment we are also taking part in the global “United Nations Race to Zero'' campaign - the largest ever alliance committed to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 at the latest. This also gives us visibility in the community and with our clients.
